Social Justice	Spring 2012	Four-day training focused with the following objectives: - Deepen understanding of one’s identity in supporting equity in school and district settings. - Analyze and address the complexities of working with adults from diverse identities in educational communities. - Demonstrate the ability to evaluate readiness of a learning community and make appropriate professional development choices.
Data Day: EVAAS, ACRE, Metametrics, NC WISE	Spring 2012	Become familiar with the data systems and metrics commonly used in North Carolina.
Literacy	Spring 2012	Three-day session delivered by NCSU literacy professors focused on effectively teaching reading, writing, listening, and speaking in the K-12 classroom.
Common Core Overview (the one we had on mock interview day)	Spring 2012	Session presented by ??? focused on implementing the Common Core/Essential Standards in schools.

Understanding by Design	Fall 2011	Two-day session on Wiggins and McTighe’s framework for backwards design.

School Visits: KIPP Gaston, AB Combs, Bertie Middle School	Fall 2011	School visits planned by NELA fellows to observe high-performing middle school classrooms and speak with students, staff, parents/guardians, and administrators about their best practices.
Llano Grande Digital Storytelling Workshop	Fall 2011	Weekend retreat focused on exploring and sharing our own personal stories and those of our school districts.
Mathematics Common Core Trajectories	Fall 2011	Session delivered by NCSU math professors designed to introduce the Common Core mathematics learning trajectories.
Assistments	Fall 2011	Training on use of free formative assessment system.
Facilitative Leadership	Fall 2010, Spring 2011	Four-day training on Facilitative Leadership, practices that enable leaders to inspire commitment from and bring out the best in others.
Crucial Conversations	Spring 2011	Two-day training on how to engage with others in critical, potentially challenging conversations that result in positive outcomes.
Teacher Evaluation Instrument	Spring 2011	Training on the content and use of the new NC Teacher Evaluation Instrument.
Ruby Payne	Spring 2011	Training focused on raising achievement for students living in poverty.
DPI Special Education Day	Spring 2011	Session designed to build our knowledge of federal and state special education policy.
Conflict Resolution	Spring 2011	Dr. Riddick led conversation about latest research on conflict escalation and resolution. Role played various scenarios, including proven ways to de-escalate highly-emotional situations with influential figures.
